It has been almost a thousand years since the end of the War of Destruction, and during those years there was much different about the world. Women held dominance, and the world stayed in an agrarian society for many years, only recently catching back up to the technological level the world had reached before the war. 26 years ago, for the first time since the war, a male Heir was named to the American throne. 25 years ago a Nephandus mage performed a coup and made himself emperor, 16 years ago the mage was brought down and the rightful ruler reinstated.

15 years ago the war with the Technocratic Union began, marching side by side with Asheen's changes to the American government and the way that the Supernatural were treated. These changes are something the Union does not want, though they are having problems preventing them from happening. Attempts to stop the forward progress are either stopped by the new government, or by the Gifted themselves.

The Union is being worn down, attrition is high among the Union Operatives. The Crystal Order, once meant to be a balancing agent has started to move in and take over what the Union was supposed to do. Though instead of trying to guide the masses they focus more on policing the Gifted and dealing with the problems that are left to go unchecked.

Now, with the war with the Union winding down, and the joining of Korea and America, other countries are starting to wonder if they will be next to be crushed under the American thumb. Though while they worry about that and take steps to protect themselves, Asheen and his young government are turning their eyes elsewhere. To the stars. The Moon, Mars, the Moons of Jupiter, and other bodies in the solar system, first but he is hoping to explore beyond the edges of the solar system. There is already a fully functional and operational station in orbit where new ships are being designed, built and tested, and from where people go to the moon to work on building the first base on the moon. Manned expiditions to Mars leave from the station though they currently take months to almost two years depending how far away Mars is.
